Who are you?
What is your favourite colour?
When is the next train?
Where's Wally?
...And what is the meaning of life?

To this question there lies no answer,
However the world's curiosity spreads like cancer.
Infects every cell,
And resides in our brains.
This yearning to know,
Keeps me tossing and turning.
Never satisfied with meanings that lack:
Proof and credibility.
I want a reason I can't turn back.
Perhaps this is a test,
Set by a God that does not rest.
Or maybe we're here to strive,
To be higher in our next life.
These explanations make people feel content,
That into blackness we won't descend.
Darkness defines the next theory,
For our children we keep it bleary.
For how do we shape young lives without gel,
How do we dictate ethics without heaven and hell?
I need that crucial answer,
To know that i'm not a dancer.
To be sure that when I wake,
It's for a reason.
And, most importantly, to know,
That the curtain won't simply...fall.
I had to find a poem about the search for the meaning of life. I couldn't find one, so I wrote one myself!

Hope you like it :D

Also, I be glad to here what your understanding of the meaning of life is!

Don't shape lives at all. Allow them to shape themselves.
Do love this piece.. the reason/meaning of life is never definitive though, oddly enough. It is a learning until you wither away.
